Last Saturday, I dropped by the Even More Instant Doodles exhibit opening at My Little Art Place (Greenhills, San Juan). It was a spur of the moment thing. I wanted to go out for coffee and look for inspiration outside the four walls of my studio. Meanwhile, Jooley had planned to go and was looking for someone to attend with her, so I thought I might as well keep her company. Coffee and sketching can wait until after the event. And I’m sure glad I went.
It was a feast for the senses! The walls were covered with illustrations rendered in pencil and in ink by the 50 participating artists. Music inside the gallery was provided by Paul Zialcita and company. Outside, Planet Zips luminaries wowed the crowd with their fire poi performances. Admittedly, watching the latter made me miss taking poi dancing lessons. Anyway, I’ll let the few photos I was able to take that night do the talking for me.
We transferred afterwards to a coffee shop that was a short drive away. This time, Jooley and I were joined by alternative model Jowein (Dear Prudence) and artist Tony Piggott. Capped off my night with my much-needed dose of caffeine, a sketching session (I’ll be posting my drawing on a separate entry), and great conversation with these guys. I have to say I can’t wait to work with them at Tony’s studio this week.
